Resource Recycling Magazine: Aleris to shutter aluminum recycling plant

## Aleris to shutter aluminum recycling plant

_By Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling_

Aleris International will close its Friendly, West Virginia aluminum recycling facility at the end of February. The facility is one of 13 recycling plants the company operates in North America.

The West Virginia operation employs 38 in the production of secondary aluminum ingots and aluminum deoxidizers used in steelmaking. Industry observers suggest that recovered steel originally destined for this facility will now be handled at Aleris' Coldwater, Michigan plant.
