Plastics-to-oil firm **JBI recently raised over $4 million in funding**. [The company](http://www.waste-management-world.com/articles/2013/01/waste-plastics-to-oil-firm-secures-4m-from-share-sale.html) issued 1.1 million shares of Series B Convertible Preferred Stock at a price of $3.50 per share, which can be converted into seven shares of common stock June 30, 2014.

MBA Polymers has filed Patent Application 20130008831, which describes methods and devices for **separating plastic materials from shredded electronics**.

Arlington, Washington-based **MicroGREEN Polymers** has [received](http://www.microgreeninc.com/media/filer_public/2013/01/11/stillaguamish_investment_announcement20130111.pdf) a **$5 million investment** from the Stillaguamish Tribe that will help MicroGREEN expand its recycled PET cup and tray production capabilities. The tribe also announced it will use MicroGREEN products in its casinos.

A new [report](http://www.edie.net/news/5/Glass-packaging-demand-set-to-make-way-for-cheaper-plastics/23813/) from U.K. market research firm Visiongain predicts that while the glass packaging market will reach $36.8 billion this year, its potential growth over the next decade will be limited by **demand for lighter-weight PET bottles and containers -- specifically PET**.

Texas Disposal Systems, based in the Austin suburb of Creedmoor, is [launching](http://www.marketwire.com/press-release/texas-disposal-systems-launches-bag-the-bag-program-in-georgetown-1745261.htm) a **curbside plastic bag collection program** as part of its single-stream collection service in Georgetown, Texas. The move stands in contrast with the City of Austin, where a retail bag ban goes into effect in March.
