A trade group in Britain representing the country's plastics recycling industry has a released its annual survey, providing insight into plastics recycling's progress.

The British Plastics Federation's Recycling Group (BPFRG) has released the results of its [2011 Annual Return Survey](http://www.bpf.co.uk/Recycling/Position_Statements/Default.aspx). About 87 percent of the group's membership responded to the survey, which provides information and statistics on the total tonnage of plastics recovered by its members. According to the survey, members of the BPFRG recycled nearly 570,000 tons of plastics, breaking the half million ton mark for the first time.

"The BPFRG continues to see strong growth in its membership and this survey reinforces our position at the forefront of the U.K. plastics recycling industry," said Roger Baynham, chair of the BPFRG, in a prepared statement. "However, the increased packaging recycling targets set by the government are challenging and will only be achieved by creating a credible route map which must address the U.K.'s over-reliance on export markets for its plastics waste."
