[_Packaging Digest_](http://www.packagingdigest.com/article/522417-Walmart_vendors_improve_compliance_with_Green_Guides_.php) has a roundup of news from **Walmart's annual Sustainable Packaging Expo**. One of the issues discussed at the event was when it was appropriate to describe a product's package as "recyclable" and when further consumer education was necessary.

**China is cracking down on plastic scrap imports**, [announcing](http://www.scrap-ex.com/news/export_market/china_enforce_regulation_imports_recycled_plastics.html) that recycling companies can expect more inspections and greater scrutiny to make sure imported material meets minimum quality benchmarks. Additionally, the Chinese government says it will no longer allow the sale of unwashed plastic leftover after sorting commingled plastic and paper scrap.

Bag and backpack manufacturer **Timbuk2** has [launched](http://www.ecouterre.com/timbuk2-launches-full-cycle-bags-made-from-recycled-plastic-bottles/timbuk2-full-cycle-recyced-pet-bags-2/?extend=1) a new line of **bags manufactured using post-consumer PET**. In addition to utilizing recycled materials, the bags and backpacks can also be returned be returned to Timbuk2 at their end-of-life for recycling.
