A new **documentary film** titled "[Terra Blight](http://www.terrablight.com/)" takes a look at the **hazardous waste created by American consumers' consumption of electronics** by tracing the life cycle of computers from their creation to their disposal. According to a synopsis of the film, "the audience will never look at their computer the same way again."

Cell phone service provider **Verizon Wireless** has collected **1 million retail trade-in devices** through its In Store Trade-In Program, which was a launched a year ago and has kept 140 tons of e-scrap out of landfills. Through the program, customers purchasing a new device can trade in their old device for a gift card redeemable at the company's stores.

**AERC Recycling Solutions and Global Tungsten and Powders Corp.** have [announced](http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/9/prweb9851073.htm) a joint venture to **reclaim rare earth metals** from used fluorescent lamps.

With the announcement of the new iPhone 5, **ecoATM** has announced it is [scaling up](http://ecoatm.com/find-a-location.html) its service to meet expected demand from consumers trading in older devices. The company says it will have **300 trade-in kiosks** installed by the end of the year.
