**Arrow Electronics** is creating a new service to manage **IT and electronic asset disposal**, reports [_CRN_](http://www.crn.com/news/channel-programs/240147377/arrow-prepares-new-service-to-support-product-end-of-life.htm). The program will be set up in a way were asset reclamation can be included as part of the initial product sale and will have a data security component.

**Washington State's e-scrap program** maintained momentum heading into 2013, with [E-Cycle Washington](http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/swfa/eproductrecycle/docs/Collections.pdf) collecting 4.02 million pounds of TVs, monitors and computers in January. Since the program began in 2009, E-Cycle Washington has collected over **167.7 million pounds of covered electronics.**

Recycling kiosk maker **ecoATM has secured $40 million** in mezzanine debt financing from Falcon Investment Advisors LLC. The new funding has enabled the company to begin accepting tablets at its recycling kiosks, in addition to cell phones, music players and other portable electronics. The company currently operates a network of approximately 300 kiosks across the country.

**ISRI** has responded to a recent article in [_The Economist_](http://www.economist.com/news/international/21570678-growing-mounds-electronic-scrap-can-mean-profits-or-scandals-cadmium-lining) on unregulated electronic waste trade and processing in developing countries. Calling the article "one-sided," ISRI says that **responsible e-scrap trading and processing are an economic and technological development tool** for many workers in emerging economies.
