Plastics Recycling Update Magazine: PetroChem Wire: Recycled PE prices fell sharply in June

## PetroChem Wire: Recycled PE prices fell sharply in June

_By Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling_

Ample supply of prime material contributed to a sharp drop in recycled polyethylene prices in June. Repro and regrind prices fell by as much as 10 cents per pound last month.

Deals for HDPE frac melt dairy natural pellets were done at 54-55 cents per pound, down from May deals done at 60-65 cents per pound. HMW film natural pellet was sold at 58-59 cents per pound in June. Black HMW film pellets sold in June at 55-57 cents per pound, down 7 cents per pound from May. Regrind prices also weakened, as buyers saw prime prices slipping. HDPE HMW natural flake material was quoted under 50 cents per pound, down 3 cents per pound from May. Sellers' offers for HDPE HMW black regrind were at 45 cents per pound, with mixed color at 42 cents per pound at the end of June -- 4-6 cents per pound lower than they were a month earlier. Generic prime spot PE prices fell 5-6 cents per pound in June.
