## Maryland County awarded recycling grant
_By Jake Thomas, Resource Recycling_
Residents of Montgomery County, Maryland will now be able to recycle PET thermoform plastics in their recycling bins thanks to a grant from an industry trade group.
A $63,000 grant from SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association will allow residents of the county, which is north of Washington D.C., living in single-family homes to put items labeled with the No. 1 plastic resin code, such as clamshells, cups, trays, lids and other items into their recycling bins.
SPI and the National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR) partnered on the grant program. SPI provided $100,000 in program funding and NAPCOR provided project management and technical assistance.
