The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has revised its rules concerning **registration fees** that electronics manufacturers pay to cover the state's electronics recycling program, **Oregon E-Cycles**. The details can be found near the end of this [staff report][1].
**British Columbia's electronics stewardship program has added new devices**. As of July 3, BC residents can now recycle GPS devices, electronic musical instruments, calculators and other small mobile consumer electronics, in addition to the computers, peripherals, display devices and AV equipment that was previously [covered][2].
Gaspard Tine-Beres, a designer at the Royal College of Art, **re-builds toasters, coffee-makers and kettles from discarded appliances** that still retain some value as part of a project called [Short Circuit][3]. The project highlights how landfills are filling up with appliances that are still fixable and valuable.
