Resource Recycling Magazine: Rebounding housing market brings smiles to recycling industry

## Rebounding housing market brings smiles to recycling industry

_By Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling_

The domestic housing market continues to grow, and this is welcome news for some recycling processors.

After rising 28 percent last year, housing starts are expected to reach nearly one million units this year, says the National Association of Home Builders. This estimate represents a 22 percent increase over 2012.

The rise in new housing will result in more steel being used, especially for making appliances. Plastics is also a winner, given the use of plastics to make eaves, gutters, pipe, decking, windows and other construction products.
