When the **Ravens and 49ers** duked it out for football's most coveted title they did so over **half a million pounds of recycled rubber**. According to an Ohio [ABC affiliate](http://www.13abc.com/story/20952483/local-company-provides-turf-for-super-bowl), the Maumee Bay Turf Center **manufactured the turf at the Super Dome using recycled materials** that the owner of the company says is safer than other those made from other materials.
**Houston's Major League Soccer team**, the **Dynamo**, has been orphaned as a result of [Waste Management's purchase of Greenstar Recycling](http://resource-recycling.com/node/3475), which sponsors the team. The [_Houston Chronicle_](http://www.chron.com/sports/dynamo/article/Dynamo-cut-ties-to-jersey-sponsor-Greenstar-4243762.php) reports that the deal makes the team one of three without a **corporate sponsor**. However, the team's president, Chris Canetti, said that the arrangement will be good for everyone.
A resident of **Corpus Christi, Texas** figured that because **rifle and pistol ammunition** are made of metal they must be recyclable and placed the rounds in their recycling bin, reports [_kwtx.com_](http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/Hundreds-Of-Rounds-Of-Live-Ammo-Found-In-Texas-Recycle-Bin-189568641.html). The radio station reports that the **live ammunition** was hand removed from the recycling stream during sorting.
** ST Tissue** is now making recycled tissue and toweling in Franklin, Virginia. The 70,000-ton-per-year, 85-employee operation is located at the International Paper complex in that city. Tak Investments, the owner of ST Tissue, spent $60 million in converting a printing and writing paper machine.
