_By Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling_

HIPS and GPPS pellet prices increased an average of 2 cents per pound in late January over mid-January in response to a firmer prime polystyrene market.

GPPS mixed color pellet sold as high as 53 cents in late January, up from pricing just either side of 50 cents earlier in the month. Regrind polystyrene prices were also higher, with both HIPS and GPPS up about 2 cents. Mixed color flake GPPS was priced around 41-43 cents per pound in late January.

Contract prices for prime PS increased by 2 cents on average in January. Domestic resale prices for HIPS averaged nearly $1.03 per pound, up from $1.01 per pound in December.
