A [new study](http://www.freedoniagroup.com/DocumentDetails.aspx?DocumentId=602749) from the **Freedonia Group** analyzes the U.S. recycled plastics industry and presents **forecasts to 2016 and 2021** for recycled plastic collection and demand by source, resin and market. It also provides information on market environment factors, details industry structures, evaluates company and market shares and profiles industry players.
Private equity investment firm **Wind Point Partners has acquired plastic bag and film manufacturer Hilex Poly Co. LLC**. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, however the acquisition will result in several additions to the board of directors. **The European Food Safety Authority** has approved [two new processes](http://www.beveragedaily.com/Processing-Packaging/EFSA-backs-recycled-post-consumer-PET-into-food-contact-material-methods) for **recycling food-contact PET**. The new systems are utilized by Spanish firm Nosinyec S.L. and Austrian firm PET Recycling Team GmbH.
Rigid plastic packaging manufacturer [Phoenix Packaging LLC](http://www.businessweek.com/ap/2012-11-30/va-dot-packaging-maker-to-add-100-jobs-expand) is **adding 100 jobs as part of a $20 million expansion** at its Dublin, Virginia facility. Phoenix will be adding approximately 75,000 square feet of facility space at the Dublin site, through the purchase of an adjacent building. The company is a subsidiary of Colombian firm Grupo Phoenix.
